Album Review: Kutless - Alpha/Omega

Kutless:  Alpha/Omega Album

Kutless’s newest album, Alpha/Omega is from start to finish a wonderful album!  From the moment that I started the album, I have not stopped playing it in its entirety.  The album starts with Your Great Name, which is a powerful praise song that I have begun my days to.  Each song on this album is a reminder of whom God is to us and is such a great worship album in this holiday season.

While I love each song on this album immensely, I have found myself playing Shepherd of My Soul over and over.  This particular is such a reminder that God loves us and shepherds us all the days of our lives.  I recommend that you get this album; you will love it!

Happy Listening!

Book Review: The Space Between Words

The Space Between Words

Author:  Michele Phoenix
Publisher:  Thomas Nelson
Pages:  336
Audience:  Adults
Genre:  Fiction

Michele Phoenix writes a riveting and moving story in The Space Between Words.  The book tells the story of Jessica, who is in France with her friends Vonda and Patrick.  Their time together is fun and light-hearted as good friendships can be until one day it is changed forever.

While at a concert event, Jessica and Vonda are victims of a terrorist attack at the concert venue.  This attack forever changes Jessica’s world and sends her on a healing journey that is heartbreaking and healing.  Jessica decides to stay in France after surviving the attack in order to take a trip she and Patrick had promised they had planned on.  On this trip, Patrick leads her to a sewing box and through this sewing box, Jessica is introduced to the Baillard family who were persecuted in the Protestant movement in France.  Jessica embarks on a journey to find out who the Baillard family were and what happened to them.  Along this journey, Jessica meets Mona and Grant, a brother and sister who rent to Jessica the property she stays on while on the trip and Jessica also meets little Connor, Mona’s son.

This book was a difficult one to read.  There were several times I found myself having to pause from the emotions it emitted from me.  Michele Phoenix writes with depth and compassion.  Jessica’s journey is heart-wrenching.  Mona, Grant, and Connor are such wonderful characters; representing strength, compassion, and faith.  Each member of the Baillard family were models of strength and love in the midst of adversity and their strong faith in God resonated throughout their own journey.
Overall, this book is one that I won’t soon forget.  Michele Phoenix tells a story that impacts you to the core however resonates with hope, strength, and shows how God is faithful to us in most difficult times in our lives.

Happy Reading!

Book Review: A Haven on Orchard Lane

A Haven on Orchard Lane

Author:  Lawana Blackwell
Publisher:  Bethany House
Pages:  407
Audience:  Adults
Genre:  Fiction

A Haven on Orchard Lane is a charming story surrounding the relationship of Rosalind Kent and Charlotte Ward, daughter and mother.  Charlotte Ward is a renowned theatre actress that has been in a loveless and abusive marriage for many years.  Charlotte’s daughter, Rosalind had been sent to live with her aunt many years before when Rosalind was a child.  The years of separation embittered Rosalind towards her mother.  One day, Charlotte, whom for many years had been out of the public eye since her marriage to Lord Fosberry is presented an opportunity to escape the reclusive life she had been living and return to the theatre stage.  During Charlotte’s debut onstage, a cruel incident occurs which reunites mother and daughter.

The journey that Rosaline and Charlotte take is filled with forgiveness, understanding, and love.  Charlotte’s faith sustains her and through this faith shines the love and concern she has not only for her daughter but others as well.  I loved Charlotte’s character from the beginning along with most of the individuals she meets in Port Stilwell.  The themes of forgiveness, love, faith, and friendship are featured in this wonderful book.  Ms. Blackwell writes greatly detailed characters that are so endearing and paints a most picturesque town.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading fiction set within small town life.

Happy Reading!
