A Woman’s Guide to Knowing What You Believe

Audience:  Adults (Women)

Ever gotten into a difficult conversation with someone about your faith?  The author, Patty Houser, writes this book outreaching to women of faith about how to have dynamic faith and how to have dynamic faith and how to communicate this faith to others.  Ms. Houser also poses the question that most women know what they believe; however, can women remain grounded in their faith when they are challenged by another?

The author first calls women to examine their beliefs.  I understood what the author was displaying with this call because knowing what exactly we believe grounds us in our faith and how we communicate it to others.  Ms. Houser also shares how she would defend parts of the Bible if she were posed a question; for example, she illustrates that if she were to defend the resurrection she would use the Minimal Facts Approach and goes on to describe this approach.  I thought that her example was a good illustration of how we should respond to questions about our faith.

Overall, I thought that this book was interesting and made some great points about questions and responses about our faith.  I think this book is a helpful read not just in defending faith but also in communicating your faith in a conversational way that is informative and neutral.  If you are interested in reading a different approach to speaking about your faith, I would recommend this book.

Happy Reading!
