This novel follows the life of Henry Phillips. On New Year’s Eve, Henry’s life is forever
changed by the sudden death of his father.
After this sudden loss, Henry experiences many challenges that test his
faith and puts him on the journey of finding himself. Along Henry’s journey we are introduced to
many other characters who affect his journey.
The reader will meet Margaret, a young woman who works for Henry’s
grandmother, who challenges Henry.
Mayfair, Margaret’s little sister, with a special gift gives Henry new
perspective on his journey. Henry’s
grandmother and mother are two wise and strong women who guide Henry.
This is the first book I have read by Sarah Loudin Thomas
and it definitely won’t be my last. The
characters in this story are very memorable and endearing. I could feel the love that Sarah Loudin
Thomas has for these characters. I found
Henry’s grandmother and mother to be admirable women and great examples of
strength, courage, love, and guidance throughout this story. This book is the second book in the
Appalachian Blessings series. I haven’t
read the first book, Miracle in a Dry Season, however, I found that this second
book can be read on its own. (I’m definitely
putting the Miracle in a Dry Season on my book list to read).
I recommend this book to everyone. This is a story of the love a family can make
and how God’s love surrounds all of us in the midst of our struggles.
Comment below if you have read any one of the books from the
Appalachian Blessings series; I would love to read what your thoughts are on
this author and the books.
Happy Reading!
Note: I have received
a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest
review.
